The Episcopal Church is rooted first and foremost in worship. The Liturgy (from a Greek word meaning "the work of the people") centers us; worship- our work- is the place where we begin and end, and begin anew, the ministries to which we each are called as Baptized persons.
The principal act of Christian worship on Sundays and major feast days is The Holy Eucharist. Some Churches call this The Lord's Supper, or Holy Communion, or The Mass. Whatever it is called, it is a sacred meal where Christians are nourished for lives of joyful service in the World. Our parish participates in this sacred meal every Sunday morning, every Monday morning, every Wednesday at Noonday, and whenever we gather for weddings or funerals.
The Episcopal Church practices open Communion. This simply means that if you're a Christian- whether you're an Episcopalian or not- you are welcomed to receive The Blessed Sacrament.
At other times throughout the year, we offer special services:
On 11 November each year, we celebrate The Feast of Saint Martin of Tours- the patron of warriors- with a festival Evensong. This happily coincides with Veterans' Day, and we honor the veterans of our community in this service.
On the fourth Wednesday evening of November each year, we celebrate the great national day of Thanksgiving with a special service.
On the second Sunday of July each year, we observe Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club Sunday- welcoming members of our local yacht club for their annual service.
Weddings and funerals may be scheduled subject to The Customary of the Parish; please contact the Parish office for details: 1-609-492-7571.
Whatever the context or observance, our services are filled with reverence and joy, and all are welcomed to join us!
