Heifer International

Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen has been a symbol of hope and compassion in the Chelsea section of Manhattan since 1982. Housed in the landmark Church of the Holy Apostles, the Soup Kitchen serves over 1,000 hot nutritious meals on average each and every weekday, including holidays. Anyone who comes to our door is welcome – without question or qualification

Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, we empower them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self-reliance and hope.

With gifts of livestock and training, Heifer projects help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways. We refer to our animal donations as "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal's offspring to another family in need. It's called Passing on the Gift – a cornerstone of our mission that creates an ever-expanding network of hope and peace.

Sunday School

Thanks to everyone who took part in the Giving Tree and The Holiday Breakfast! These two events are such a beautiful heartwarming way to close the year. Thanks to Emily Mrazek for handling the task of delivering the gifts to the Children’s Home representative.

February 4th is the SOUPER BOWL date this year. We hope to see lots of choices of soups, breads, and cookies to serve during coffee hour that day.

As is our custom, we will have two soup kettles representing the two football teams that are playing in the NFL game later that day. Put your donation in the kettle of your chosen team. It’s been shown in the past that the most $’s collected in a team’s kettle will be the winning team that evening!

All donations collected during SOUPER BOWL coffee hour will be sent to HEIFER INTERNATIONAL.

NOTE: There will be no Sunday school classes February 18th .
