Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen has been a symbol of hope and compassion in the Chelsea section of Manhattan since 1982. Housed in the landmark Church of the Holy Apostles, the Soup Kitchen serves over 1,000 hot nutritious meals on average each and every weekday, including holidays. Anyone who comes to our door is welcome – without question or qualification
Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, we empower them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self-reliance and hope.
With gifts of livestock and training, Heifer projects help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways. We refer to our animal donations as "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal's offspring to another family in need. It's called Passing on the Gift – a cornerstone of our mission that creates an ever-expanding network of hope and peace.
The most beautiful season of the year here on our magnificent island is upon us.
The harried months of summer drift away and we are blessed with God’s gift of Autumn.
Please note there will be no Sunday school Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd AND October 2nd, Chowder Fest weekend.
Sunday School Roundup will be September 17th.
Sunday School will host its first Coffee Hour of the Fall season, October 29th, celebrating Halloween. Feel free to join the kids and wear “your costume”.
As previously planned, I am now in the Sunshine of Florida. I will return in June. Please support Miss Maggie in her duties as your Sunday school teacher. I will be joining you for services as often as I can on the live feed.
Peace be with you. Love, Miss Di
