Heifer International

Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen has been a symbol of hope and compassion in the Chelsea section of Manhattan since 1982. Housed in the landmark Church of the Holy Apostles, the Soup Kitchen serves over 1,000 hot nutritious meals on average each and every weekday, including holidays. Anyone who comes to our door is welcome – without question or qualification

Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, we empower them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self-reliance and hope.

With gifts of livestock and training, Heifer projects help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways. We refer to our animal donations as "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal's offspring to another family in need. It's called Passing on the Gift – a cornerstone of our mission that creates an ever-expanding network of hope and peace.

Sunday School

“HELLO, FAMILIES, FRIENDS, MEMBERS & TEACHERS OF SUNDAY SCHOOL!”

Dear Family at Holy Innocents:

This is my last Parish Post writing. By the time you read this, I’ll have vacated my home and will be en route to Naples, Florida. Our sweet little house is up for sale and I pray it does sell! I have found in life I can do many things fairly well, saying Goodbye is not one of them. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes by Samuel Johnson. “We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindness there is at last one which makes the heart run over”. I thank God for ALL YOUR DROPS!! Love, Retired Sunday School Superintendent and your friend in Christ
